What your firefox may be missing!

Im going to guess that you use firefox if you are reading this so we can jump right into the subject, addons. Addons allow customization of firefox outside of what the firefox inc can make. And because it is made this way, it allows for rapid adaptability and customization thanks to everyone who uses firefox. There are so many out there but im only going to talk about my favorite three:

3. Fast Dial - Fast Dial is a good tool to have a few quick bookmarks up at your home screen or if you have lots of destinations it works for both, you can change how many links are on your home as well as background image, colors, positioning, and many other things. Very customizable and even lets you create folders for additional space. You can choose what picture to use as the "logo" (image that appears in the box). Its helpful, pretty straight forward and open to customization.

2. Adblock Plus - Adblock Plus is a must have for anyone who is tired of seeing advertisments, hearing sound playing from them or whatever else they've mutated into these days! With a swift right click you can choose to add it to your block list. at which point you can choose which part of the url you want. So if you want to block adds from the entire site, not just the specific ad you can do it. Blocking many ads will rapidly increase your speed while loading that website, and you dont get annoyed.

1. Greasemonkey - Greasemonkey is an addon that allows for use of user developed javascript; Its got its own little addons if you will. So thanks to the community and users again there is so much you can do with this addon its great. http://userscripts.org/ is like mozillas addons directory but for greasemonkey scrips. Scripts to change the what your facebook wall displays, Or you can remove ads from sites like youtube and last.fm. the possibilities are endless because its open to the community.

Im sure there are lots of addons out there but the more you have the slower your firefox can be, you need to be careful not to bog down your browser by giving it so much work to do. if you have an addon frenzy it can do more harm than hinder. So choose your addons lightly if you want to surf quicker :) or check out other tips for optimizing firefox speed. i will do a post later on about computer optimization, so stay tuned and thanks for reading!

I would like you know what addons you guys use and how they benefit you, feel free to comment below or send me a message, feedback is always welcomed.

  5. Great post. I use FF, Chrome, IE. FF lags (keyboard & mouse entry) and has to be restarted. Chrome crashes constantly. Believe it or not, IE is the only reliable browser.

Anyway, I wrote a follow up to yesterday's I See You! It's called Google Analytics Pro Tips & Tricks. You have to check it out. You'll be glad you did.

    See you real soon!

  13. I love me some Adblock Plus, I use to keep it on all the time. But these days I leave it off most of the time unless a site has some really obtrusive ads.
